Innovation only matters if it holds up in the field. Our role is to keep building systems that creators can depend on as productions grow more ambitious, more immersive, and more connected.”

John McMahonSenior Vice President

In 2025, Meyer Sound expanded its global portfolio of touring, installed, and immersive projects while debuting pioneering new integrated loudspeaker technologies for real-world production. Together, these efforts reflected a connected ecosystem shaped by creative and technical workflows across markets and disciplines.

ASTRYA‑140, GEN‑1, and USW‑121P expand intelligent loudspeaker ecosystems

2025 technology developments reinforced Meyer Sound’s continued evolution toward unified, networked ecosystems. The new flagship ASTRYA-140 screen channel loudspeaker cements the company’s leadership in premium exhibition sound and debuts GEN-1 technology, which brings networked connectivity and onboard signal processing directly to the loudspeaker. The new USW-121P high-power subwoofer is the first low-frequency product to launch with GEN-1.

“Our focus is on how entire systems behave together in the real world,” says John McMahon, Senior Vice President. “Designers need tools that integrate cleanly, scale intelligently, and perform with consistency whether they’re building a cinema, a house of worship, or an immersive performance space. That way of thinking grows directly out of the workflows we see every day.”

Cinematic and sports installations shape large-scale experiences

Meyer Sound installations continued to reshape how audiences experience sound across cinema, sports, and live performance. A new Meyer Sound system at the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences’ Samuel Goldwyn Theater stood out as a marquee installation, continuing the venue’s legacy as one of the industry’s most respected screening rooms. Additional deployments came online at The Beverly Theater and Haus7 • Studio at Bavaria Film. At Avicii Arena in Stockholm, a large-scale Meyer Sound Constellation acoustic system shapes audience experiences by distributing crowd sounds in real time, allowing chants, music, and audience energy to travel across the entire arena during hockey games and concerts.

Performing arts, education, and worship expand institutional reach

Performing arts and music venues receiving new Meyer Sound systems in 2025 included two of the country’s most storied theaters. At Philadelphia’s Academy of Music—the nation’s oldest operating opera house—a discreet, high-performance Meyer Sound system was integrated into the 2,500-seat hall, delivering consistent coverage across three balconies while preserving the venue’s historic architecture. In Oakland, the Fox Theater entered a new era with a PANTHER and 2100‑LFC system engineered for uniform coverage and controlled low end from the pit to the deep under-balcony.

In education, Arizona State University’s MIX Center and the University at Buffalo expanded spatial audio capabilities with Meyer Sound technology. In worship, flagship deployments including Victory Christian Fellowship and Calvary Church continued to demonstrate how modern worship environments rely on precise coverage and intelligibility at scale.

Internationally, Meyer Sound supported a sound art installation by Bill Fontana at St. Peter’s Basilica, revealing the hidden voice of the Basilica’s great bell.

Theater, immersive performance, and cinematic storytelling

Reflecting how sound design continues to evolve as a central storytelling tool, Meyer Sound maintained a strong presence across theatrical and immersive performance throughout 2025. Productions including Bob Marley: Hope Road at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, Cirque du Soleil’s ALIZÉ in Berlin, and Broadway’s Buena Vista Social Club and Redwood relied on Meyer Sound systems to support modern theatrical sound design demands from spatial imaging to large-scale musical reinforcement.

A global year for education and training

Education remained a cornerstone of Meyer Sound’s mission in 2025, with more than 50 in-person trainings delivered across six continents and over 20 countries. A major milestone came with the opening of Planet X, Meyer Sound’s new training facility at its Berkeley, CA headquarters, which hosted inaugural programs including an Avnu Alliance Plugfest and a Constellation Certification Program.

Setting the standard for tour and festival sound

Large-format touring remained a defining force for Meyer Sound in 2025, with productions by Metallica, Ed Sheeran, Dave Matthews Band, and Billy Strings deploying Meyer Sound systems across stadiums and arenas worldwide.

Long-standing partnerships with major festivals continued to serve as critical testing grounds for Meyer Sound technology, with the Montreux Jazz Festival, Roskilde Festival, Telluride Film Festival, and Coachella’s Do LaB stage all relying on Meyer Sound systems and design expertise.

Meyer Sound and the Grateful Dead: Celebrating 60 Years of Sonic Innovation

Meyer Sound supported Dead & Company’s milestone Golden Gate Park performances celebrating 60 years of the Grateful Dead’s music, an event that marked decades of collaboration and experimentation from the original Wall of Sound to the modern large-format touring systems that continue to define how the band’s performances are experienced today.

Across product development, touring, installations, festivals, and education, 2025 reflected Meyer Sound’s continued focus on innovations shaped by real-world use. “Innovation only matters if it holds up in the field,” says John McMahon, Senior Vice President. “Our role is to keep building systems that creators can depend on as productions grow more ambitious, more immersive, and more connected.”
