Three major acts that tour with Meyer Sound LEO Family systems – The Lumineers, Passenger and Lukas Graham – have been announced as featured performers at Switzerland’s Montreux Jazz Festival, where for the 31st consecutive year, Meyer Sound is the Official Sound Provider.
Lukas Graham, currently touring with a system based on LYON linear line array loudspeakers provided by Victory Tour Production, will perform at the Montreux Jazz Lab on July 1. The Lumineers and Passenger share the bill on July 14 at Auditorium Stravinski. The Lumineers are touring with a combined LEO and LYON system provided by Sound Image, while Passenger’s European tour was supported Major Tom, Ltd using a LEOPARD-based system in most venues.
The reinforcement system at Auditorium Stravinski, the festival’s largest venue, will comprise Meyer Sound LYON-M and LYON-W line array loudspeakers with bass augmented by 1100-LFC and 900‑LFC low-frequency control elements. A sampling of other Auditorium Stravinski headliners includes Herbie Hancock, Pet Shop Boys, Usher & The Roots, Ms. Lauryn Hill, Tom Jones, Grace Jones, Bryan Ferry and Brian Wilson.
In addition to Lukas Graham, other notables on stage at the Montreux Jazz Lab will be Fleet Foxes, Yello, Alt-J and La Femme. The music here will be powered by a LEOPARD line array system also bolstered by 1100-LFC and 900-LFC elements.
At the intimate Montreux Jazz Club, this year hosting Taj Mahal, Keb’ Mo’ and Mavis Staples among others, the music will be carried via UPJ-1P and UPJunior VariO loudspeakers coupled with 500-HP subwoofers.
Launched by the late Claude Nobs and two associates in 1967, the Montreux Jazz Festival celebrates an eclectic musical mix spanning a wide spectrum of contemporary genres, including – but not limited to – jazz, pop, R&B, hip-hop, rock and electronica. View the 2017 Montreux Jazz Festival program.
