Club Fugazi's ‘Dear San Francisco’ requires an immersive sound design to accompany an in-your-face contemporary circus experience. Being able to fling the sound around the room like our acrobats fling their bodies is, to put it bluntly, kick-ass!”

Club Fugazi Experiences is a beloved theater and nightclub in San Francisco that holds the record for the “longest-running musical revue on the planet.” The venue was renovated in 2021 and reopened to great reviews with a new resident immersive production—”Dear San Francisco: A High Flying Love Story,” created by Les 7 Doigts / The 7 Fingers. A key feature of the venue renovation is a Meyer Sound system consisting of six ULTRA‑X40, two ULTRA‑X20, and two ULTRA‑X22 point source loudspeakers, along with two 750‑LFC low-frequency control elements, and 16 UP‑4slim compact installation loudspeakers. In order to provide audiences with the best sonic experience possible, Club Fugazi uses our Spacemap Go spatial sound design and live mixing tool to seamlessly track movements and create unique sound effects.
“Designing with Spacemap Go and a state-of-the-art Meyer Sound loudspeaker system was a blast!” says Club Fugazi’s Sound Designer Jake Rodriguez. “Club Fugazi’s ‘Dear San Francisco’ requires an immersive sound design to accompany an in-your-face contemporary circus experience. Being able to fling the sound around the room like our acrobats fling their bodies is, to put it bluntly, kick-ass!”
Sound Engineer Federico Tezzon echoes Rodriguez’s positive review. “Meyer Sound’s Spacemap Go is the perfect match for ‘Dear San Francisco.’ One of my favorite moments in the show is when some of the acrobats sneak unseen behind and all around the audience. When they start speaking, the sound source being precisely localized via Spacemap Go, the heads in the audience snap and turn precisely to the right spot, simultaneously. That’s always a fun, ‘gotcha!’ moment.”
