The promoter told me afterwards that it was without a doubt the best sound he had ever heard in Arena Fyn. The MICA system did a terrific job, and both performers and guest engineers were very pleased.”

Meyer Sound’s MICA line array loudspeakers provided a commanding performance at the Denmark Collection (Danish: Danmarks Indsamling), an annual charity show for African causes produced by Danish public broadcaster DR. The show took place at Stadium Arena Fyn in Odense, Denmark, and featured a system designed by Jesper Findshøj, concert producer for rental house AV-Center.
The MICA system delivered “a great balance of power and clarity – precisely what was required to cater to performers as diverse as Danish rock band D-A-D and Welsh stage musical star Ria Jones,” according to Findshøj.
With an audience of 2,500 and more than two million viewers at home on channel DR1, the MICA loudspeakers needed to be sightline-friendly and reliable.
“Considering the show’s high input count and the amount of performers, the last thing I wanted to be worried about was the PA,” says Findshøj.
For the event, the two arrays of 12 MICA loudspeakers each were optimized with a Meyer Sound Galileo loudspeaker management system. Audio for the show was directed from a front-of-house Soundcraft Vi4 console and a Yamaha CL5 digital mixer at monitors. AV-Center also provided stage, lighting, and screen equipment.
The reception to the system’s performance was overwhelmingly positive, according to Findshøj. “The promoter, Hans Thomsen from JVB Concerts, told me that it was, without a doubt, the best sound he had ever heard in Arena Fyn,” says Findshøj. “The MICA system did a terrific job, and both performers and guest engineers were very pleased.”
MICA is the mid-sized member of Meyer Sound’s M Series, combining a very high power-to-size ratio with a wide, even horizontal coverage pattern. AV-Center invested in a MICA system in early 2012, and since then has deployed it at many large-scale events. These include the successful En søndag på Als (A Sunday on Als), an outdoor classical concert held on the Danish island of Als.
