The 2018 FIFA World Cup has begun at Luzhniki Stadium — the largest sports stadium in Russia. An opening ceremony was held June 14 with sound support by local rental company Arlecchino Techno.
The system deployment included 24 LEO and 20 MILO loudspeaker arrays, 28 MILO and seven M3D-Sub ground stacks, eight MICA loudspeakers, and two 600-HP compact high-power subwoofers. One Galileo 616 and four GALAXY 816 systems were also used. System design was created by Arlecchino’s technical support team Oleg Panin and Aleksey Kazulin.
The ceremony’s audience was comprised of more than 80,000 people, with 800 artists in attendance. Kicking off the Cup was a parade of attendees from 32 countries and musical performances by Robbie Williams, opera singer Aida Garifullina, and harpist Sasha Boldachev / Александр Болдачёв.
FIFA World Cup will take place in ten Russian cities and finish July 15 at Moscow’s Luzhniki Stadium.
