Montreux Jazz Festival 60/40
For 40 years, Meyer Sound and the Montreux Jazz Festival have cultivated one of the longest-running partnerships in live sound—shaped by curiosity, craft, and a relentless pursuit of the sonic ideal. The relationship’s roots trace back to Switzerland, where John and Helen Meyer met festival founder Claude Nobs and bonded over a simple idea: Every artist deserves to sound their very best. In the early days of Meyer Sound, Nobs invited the Meyers to take an active role at Montreux and help build a festival where sound was as carefully considered as the music itself.
Over four decades, Montreux has remained both stage and laboratory, a place where groundbreaking new ideas in loudspeaker design and immersive sound could be brought to life in front of the world’s most demanding artists and audiences. Today, under the leadership of CEO Mathieu Jaton, the festival continues to evolve as a global cultural platform, with Meyer Sound playing an integral role in shaping how those experiences are heard around the world.
As the festival celebrates its 60th edition and Meyer Sound marks 40 years as Global Official Sound Partner, the partnership speaks to something deeper than longevity, explains Helen Meyer: “It’s part of our DNA, it’s part of their DNA, to really make the experience special for everyone who comes.”
