Meyer Sound Helps Launch New Live Sound Program at Texas's South Plains College
When considering educational programs in audio production, prospective students probably think first of schools located in Nashville, Los Angeles, or Orlando, but certainly not Levelland, Texas. Yet, on the windswept grasslands 30 miles west of Lubbock, students discover a hidden jewel of a program at South Plains College (SPC), a comprehensive two-year community college with more than 100 associate degree and certificate options. The college's Sound Technology program, a part of their Creative Arts department, has been in place for 25 years and received national acclaim. In November 2006, the college's recently added Live Sound/Sound Reinforcement Certificate program received a powerful boost from a two-day seminar presented in conjunction with Meyer Sound's worldwide educational program. Bob McCarthy Gives Meyer Sound Design Seminar in Korea
In Seoul, South Korea, an enthusiastic group of 105 audio professionals absorbed lessons from Meyer Sound Senior Education Consultant Bob McCarthy as he presented a seminar entitled "The Optimized Design." The 3-day class, extracted for the occasion from the five-day SIM 3 Training and System Design seminar, gives a concentrated overview of the theory and principles required to design complex sound systems in a way that facilitates optimal alignment in any acoustical environment. Legendary Mixer Buford Jones Conducts Meyer Sound Seminar
Buford Jones, Meyer Sound's Tour Liaison Manager, has added his illustrious credentials to the company's education program with a new seminar offering that focuses exclusively on all aspects – artistic, technological and psychological – of FOH mixing. Entitled "The Mixing Workshop," the full-day presentation draws extensively on Jones' three decades of top-level FOH touring experience with the elite of rock and country acts: Pink Floyd, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, James Taylor, Faith Hill, Counting Crows and Clint Black, among many others. The most recent workshop was held on June 7 at Full Sail, a private media and entertainment school in Winter Park, Fla., following the seminar's debut on April 6 in Studio C of the Soundcheck rehearsal facility in Nashville. Meyer Sound SIM 3 Training Comes to Hamburg
Meyer Sound brought its long-running worldwide professional training program to Hamburg, Germany, recently with a highly successful seminar on the SIM 3 audio analyzer and its source independent measurement system. The four-day interactive event, titled "SIM 3 Training and System Design," drew 40 audio professionals from varied backgrounds, including the touring, theater, and AV installation markets.
