Marquee Audio Receives AV Award for Cheltenham Centaur Installation
The 6th AV Awards, held this October in the lavish setting of Celtic Manor, South Wales, presented Marquee Audio with its Audio Project of the Year award for their installation at Cheltenham Racecourse's new event and leisure venue, The Centaur, which featured the Meyer Sound M1D ultra-compact curvilinear line array.
"Naturally we're over the moon at winning this award, as it reinforces Marquee's position as one of the UK's key audio system providers. It also further strengthens our relationship with Meyer Sound, as we strive to broaden the products' appeal". Says Andy Huffer, sales director for Marquee Audio.
Cheltenham-based technical consultants Event & Management Services specified the sound and communications system for The Centaur and chose Marquee Audio to partner with them in designing, building and installing a complex yet flexible system to match this versatile new performance, sports and entertainment facility. "It was very exciting to work on this project for The Centaur at Cheltenham," says Peter Allison, E&MS managing director. "The sheer depth and breadth needed to fulfill the technical potential has been immense, and it's a tribute to both Meyer Sound and Marquee Audio that they have been able to come up with a combined solution that fits the bill so well. It is very much the icing on the cake that the industry as a whole has seen fit to honor the project with an award of this nature and I'm certain that everyone involved shares a sense of pride in that."
The other finalist for the Audio Project of the Year also made use of Meyer Sound loudspeakers. Audio Alliance employed Meyer Sound self-powered systems for all vocal requirements in the sound and communications system they supplied to a three day sales conference for shoe manufacturers Clarks, held at Telford's International conference centre.
