"It's really an honor to participate in such a prestigious event. The clinics are a significant part of the Festival, and the progressive nature of the event is reinforced by their recognition of the need for high quality sound."

Meyer Sound is pleased to announce its support of the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival. Music education, and specifically jazz education, is the focus of the Festival, which is held each year at the University of Idaho. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the Festival, which was named after jazz vibraphone legend Lionel Hampton in 1985.

Over 800 entries from elementary through college level schools from across the United States and Canada participate in the 4-day event, which is held during the third week in February. Student ensembles and soloists participate in judged competitions and clinic sessions during the day, and attend performances by jazz greats in the evenings. The 2002 edition featured performances and clinics by many of the artists in attendance, including vocalists Dee Daniels and Jane Monheit, and trumpeter Roy Hargrove.

Lloyd Kinkade, Western Regional Sales Manager for Meyer Sound, held three live sound production clinics during this year's Festival. "It's really an honor to participate in such a prestigious event," Kinkade noted. "The clinics are a significant part of the Festival, and the progressive nature of the event is reinforced by their recognition of the need for high quality sound."
