As the Montreux Jazz Festival celebrates its thirty-fifth year this July and again sets its stages for the wealth of musical artistry for which it's known the world over, the new Meyer M3D Line Array with BroadbandQ will deliver the sonic purity for which Meyer Sound is universally known and respected. Meyer's M3D and M3D-Sub will provide the sound for musical experiences of a lifetime in the Festival's main hall, Stravinski Hall, and from the open-air stage of Festival Off. "We're delighted that the Meyer M3D Line Array has been chosen for the Festival's main stages," says Meyer Marketing Director, Tim Chapman. "Its high directivity and tight vertical coverage make it ideally suited for both the Stravinski Hall and the long expanse of the Festival OFF's outdoor venue."

The eight-year-old Stravinski Hall holds 2,500, and will host more than forty-five acts this year in programs named Rock n' Blues, Full Circle, Top of The Blues, Tropical Night, Funky Jazz, Verve Night, Funk & Latin and Hip Rock. Some of the artists scheduled to grace the Stravinski stage are: Sting, Beck, Alanis Morissette, Bob Dylan, Neil Young & Crazy Horse, The Black Crowes, Van Morrison, B.B. King, Gospel Children of New Orleans, Herbie Hancock's Future 2 Future, George Duke, Dianne Reeves, The Chick Corea New Trio, Bobby McFerrin, Bhavani Shankar, Celia Cruz & Alredo de la Fe y su Orquestra, and Run DMC. On the second day of the Festival, the room will host a tribute to Sun Records, where artist such as Jerry Lee Lewis, Bill Lee Riley and Robert Plant will pay homage to rock 'n' roll's roots.

In Stravinski Hall, a system of twelve M3Ds will be hung in two sets of six on either side of the stage, complemented by six M3D-Subwoofers. The system will be augmented with Meyer DS-4Ps, CQ-2s, UPA-2Ps and UPM-1Ps for fill, and stage monitoring will be handled by Meyer MSL-4s, DS-4Ps, CQ-2s, UPA-2Ps, USW-1Ps, UM-1Ps and USM-1Ps. Located on the banks of Lake Geneva, the stages of Festival OFF give Festival goers a chance to hear lesser-known performers - some 2,000 - in the relaxed atmosphere of a Montreux summer day. As in the Stravinski, twelve Meyer M3D Line Array Loudspeakers will be used for the outdoor performances, along with six M3D-Subs. The systems will be augmented by Meyer CQ-2s and UPA-1Ps.

Begun as a three day jazz-only festival in 1967, the Montreux Jazz Festival has grown to become a three week event featuring a wide array of international artists performing hard rock, pop, reggae, fado, flamenco, latino beats, hip hop, electronic music, jazz and all manner of label-defying musical styles. More than 100 recordings have been made of the Festival performances, and Montreux's own Mountain Studio has become a favorite destination of a number of world-class artists. This year's Festival will run from July 6 to July 21st. Meyer Sound is proud to have sponsored the The Montreux Jazz Festival since 1987.
