Since its release, Meyer Sound's new self-powered M'elodie ultracompact high-power curvilinear array loudspeaker has received enthusiastic receptions at demonstrations in the U.S. and Europe, resulting in brisk sales of the dimunitive powerhouse loudspeaker. On September 20, the Southeast U.S. will get the opportunity to meet the newest addition to the celebrated M Series when Meyer Sound's Nashville office stages a demonstration at the famed Soundcheck rehearsal facility that will include a tour of Soundcheck, a technical introduction, and a performance by Nashville's hottest new session band, Mirage, mixed by legendary FOH engineer Buford Jones.

The demonstration is open to the public; details are at the end of this story.

First on the program schedule will be the tour of the nation's largest full-production rehearsal facility, followed by an introduction to M'elodie by Northeast Sales Manager Sandy Macdonald. Macdonald's introduction will include Meyer Sound's noted "in the raw" demonstration, where attendees hear the loudspeaker with no external corrective equalization or other processing.

The day's highlight will be the performance by Mirage, who will showcase the flexibility of M'elodie by playing in a variety of musical genres from reggae to rock, and country to jazz. Mirage's set will be mixed by Jones through a dozen M'elodie cabinets, supported by four M1D ultracompact curvilinear array loudspeakers for frontfill and four 700-HP ultrahigh-power subwoofers.

Four CQ-2 narrow coverage main loudspeakers will be available to provide surround reinforcement.

Jones joined Meyer Sound in 2001 as tour liaison manager after decades spent as an award-winning FOH sound engineer for such luminaries as Stevie Wonder, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd, and many others. Jones now runs the company's office at Soundcheck.

Mirage is a group consisting of five of Nashville's most talented session players, headed by its music director, pedal steel and slide guitarist Gary Carter, whose credits include Faith Hill and Randy Travis. Carter's "posse" will include keyboardist Dane Bryant (Clint Black, Olivia Newton-John), Keith Horne (Hot Apple Pie, Lonestar) on bass guitar, highly sought-after session player Danny Parks on guitar, and Marcus Finnie (Donna Summer, Billy Preston) on drums and percussion. As an added treat, Macdonald will also sit in with Mirage.

M'elodie brings the sonic signature and easy to use rigging of the MILO family of loudspeakers, along with an extraordinary power-to-size ratio, to a package smaller than the company's MICA compact high-power curvilinear array loudspeaker. As a result, M'elodie is small enough in size to fit in small theatres, ballrooms and clubs, yet big enough in sound to fill them. It is also an outstanding performer in theatrical productions and corporate AV applications.
